Sentinel

I finally decided to call this piece finished. I could have picked on this one and never be happy with it....in truth I am still not. I regret the static composition, and still very unsatisfied with the edges and lighting which are some of my many weaknesses.

Here I also post a process so to remind where it went wrong and what I felt have gone right.

...as all things must come to pass, it is time to move on.

The Climb

I have to put off the post that I told Jim Moore for a bit longer...sorry Jim ;) Things on that piece are not going as I wanted so I am taking a bit of a break from it to do something else...just to keep it fresh.

Beside...as you can see from recent posts, I have been on spaceship roll. So we'll just keep it going for a bit longer.

things are getting Harris around here...

been looking at John Harris again... i always feel small looking at his work.

I am trying to get the feel of the looseness and scale indication here in this piece... still can not get it. but I am learning.

another sleepless night.

66

well not really....these are some of the 66 cards that I did (the ones that sux the least). It was great fun and tough to do at the same time. The crew created these as chase cards for Topps Clone Wars cards. Many of my colleagues created some of the coolest art work u can find on a tiny little piece of paper...among them are BKO, Wayne Lo, Kilian Plunkett, Thang le, Davide Le merrer, Randy Bantog and Jackson Sze...all of whom you can find the link to their blog in the link section here. Enjoy.

Four, Three and Two

Being who I am, I do not discuss movies as much as I should on my blog. But here's a sledgehammer of a cinema...a devastating view of human desperation, stupidity, oppression yet at the same time a bright spot of sacrifice. The film has no technical flares but possesses a raw visual power that is exhausting but rewarding. It is not E for "everyone". But for those of you who don't mind working for your cinematic experience...I suggest you seek this out.

Regrets...

Someone might say that this painting is long overdue. Done outside of my comfort zone, I have never tried to paint in this style before and have always long for it. Nothing like certain level of emotional tie to the subject to bring that out of you. It's like an exercise in exorcism. Thanks to David McNeal for input.

Shameless update No.1

Since I am too lazy and too busy to create new work ( how ironic) a shameless self update will have to do.

this is done at the end of LAIR as an additional concept.

Happy Birthday Amelia!

This is a piece I did for a birthday for a good friend of mine, Amelia Kadiff. Amelia is Cory's fiancee ( see his cool blog in the link section). That's Cory right there in bow tie and microphone :P Both of them have been wonderful friends and I am lucky to know them. This was a bit hard to pull off since I don't do vector crap and it's not really my style...took a few take of studies to get it right. In the end, I had a great time working on it. Enjoy.

LAIR

Finally after 3 long years, Lair is done. My first console game project. It was an amazing learning experience for me. From concepts standpoint, I believe we have succeed in many aspect. I feel pretty honored to be working with such a talented art team led by Wayne Lo. But talent can only carry so far...for me those guys in the art trench are some of the finest people I know. Even though it wasn't always a smooth ride, it was worth it. I want to thank all of you for an awesome time. You all know who you are. Thank you.

Here are samples of the concept that I have created. Because of my previous background, my main focus during the project is architecture and world creation. The challenge was to create something different in a tired-and-familiar genre. It took a bit for me to get used to the restraint in design since I tend to stylize and over design the shape quickly.

So without too much rambling...I will come back and talk about each piece later ;)
