Sentinel

I finally decided to call this piece finished. I could have picked on this one and never be happy with it....in truth I am still not. I regret the static composition, and still very unsatisfied with the edges and lighting which are some of my many weaknesses.

Here I also post a process so to remind where it went wrong and what I felt have gone right.

...as all things must come to pass, it is time to move on.

That's silky smooth to me. I'd say 'success'.

well on the one hand, sometimes you just have to move on, but on the other, I can see this piece going even further with a little work. I can see the potential in the small studies you posted..I think it may be a matter of 2 things...

1.working on the lighting a bit more to get it to really feel right..when you're ready to come back to this piece ( which I reccomend ) try finding some good photo ref of backlit lighting situations to get a feel for the right contrast and palette.

2. good old fashion polish to give some definition to the materials in the background etc..the floor looks great and goes along way to making the image more convincing.

anyways, it's a nice start and i'm glad to see you doing more figure workfor
